Former Labor MP Michael Danby says he was “astonished” on the will increase in private earnings tax.
Mr Danby informed Sky News host Sharri Markson that it was resulting from “bracket creep”.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers and Finance Minister Katy Gallagher delivered the Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook on Wednesday.
“The huge revenues that is going towards this projected budget surplus, from the resources industries.
“Australia is able to afford all of its social security because of the vast money we get from coal, oil, and from natural gas.”
