‘Borrowing’ from one profession to another is ‘not the solution’ to healthcare crisis

RACGP President Dr Nicole Higgins says individuals are receiving their major healthcare in numerous locations versus from their GP.

“What we would prefer is that everybody works together in a team-based approach,” she instructed Sky News Australia.
She mentioned there’s a workforce scarcity throughout the “whole primary care sector”.

“It’s not just GPs, it’s nurses – we’re 8,000 short – it’s pharmacists, it’s paramedics.

“So borrowing from one profession to fill a hole in another – that’s not the solution.”
