Three tiger cubs have made their anticipated arrival at Adelaide Zoo.
The tigers are the primary ever critically-endangered Sumatran Tiger cubs to be born on the zoo.
Zoos SA chief government Elaine Bensted mentioned the births mark a “significant moment” in conservation because the species has lower than 400 surviving adults stay within the wild.
”Delilah and Kembali’s cubs are vital to ensuring strong genetics in the breeding program and indeed the future of the species,” Bensted mentioned.
“With unsustainable plantations and humans encroaching on the tiger’s habitat in Sumatra the situation is looking pretty bleak for this, the smallest tiger species.”
Delilah and her cubs will stay contained in the cubbing den for at the least the following few weeks.
Keepers won’t decide the intercourse of the little cubs till their first well being test at roughly two to 4 weeks outdated.
