Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa on Friday mentioned he’s contemplating tapping reservists and growing the quota on the army recruitment to have the manpower wanted to implement the proposed necessary Reserve Officers Training Course (ROTC) in increased training establishments.

Interviewed on GMA News’ Unang Balita, Dela Rosa was requested for his resolution relating to the priority expressed by Defense Undersecretary Franco Gacal that this system would want 9,000 to 10,000 army personnel.

“Hindi naman lahat active ang kailangan natin diyan. Puwede naman yang gampanan ng mga reservists natin (It does not have to be all active military personnel. Our reservists can do that task),” he mentioned.

If energetic army personnel are wanted for the necessary ROTC program, Dela Rosa mentioned he’s additionally contemplating growing the annual recruitment quota of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

“Meron naman tayong annual recruitment na ginagawa sa ating AFP so dagdagan natin yung quota ng recruitment nila para ma-implement nila nang mabuti itong ROTC program,” he mentioned.

(We have annual recruitment within the AFP so we might improve the quota of the recruitment so they’d correctly implement the ROTC program.)

At a listening to of the Senate Committee on Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education on Wednesday, Gacal raised the “enormous requirements” in making ROTC necessary in faculties and universities.
