The Ateneo de Manila University has accepted the implementation of a co-education system granting entry to feminine college students in its fundamental training faculties.
According to the memorandum signed by college president Fr. Roberto Yap, the Ateneo board of trustees on February 4 accepted the total implementation of the co-ed scheme by the varsity 12 months 2029-2030.
The preparatory 12 months for the system shall be in 2023-2024 whereas co-ed admission in kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 7 ranges will begin in 2024-2025.
“This is in response to our goal in the Lux-in-Domino Strategic Plan: Strategic, targeted growth in the university’s student population to increase access to and impact of the Ateneo de Manila education, specifically the strategy to increase student diversity by granting female students access to the Ateneo de Manila basic education schools,” Yap mentioned within the memo.
“The Vice President for Basic Education has been tasked to put together the communication plan, facilities and infrastructure requirements, as well as the academic, formation and capability development aspects of the co-ed scheme,” he added.
Yap urged “the community to pray for the smooth implementation of a full co-education in the Basic Education.” —Sherylin Untalan/NB, GMA Integrated News
