An alleged on-line scammer has been charged by Victoria police after evading authorities for over ten years.

Police say the alleged scammer contacted folks on-line who had been in search of rental properties, after which provided a property to them, earlier than asking them to supply hire and bond funds to safe the property.

Police say he has been working this alleged rip-off since 2011.

The 38-year-old man was arrested on a Caufield property, in Melbourne after hiding from police for greater than ten years.

The alleged scammer was needed on a number of arrest warrants and was charged with a number of counts of acquiring property by deception and acquiring a monetary benefit by deception.

The man was additionally charged with eight incidents of alleged fraud and resisting arrest.

He has been remanded and can face Melbourne Magistrates’ court docket on April 20.
