A Service NSW worker has undergone surgical procedure after being stabbed a number of occasions in an allegedly unprovoked assault at a department in Sydney‘s CBD.

Co-workers and clients rushed to the 55-year-old man’s support when he was knifed a number of occasions within the decrease again, chest and shoulder on the Haymarket department about 9.20am at present.

A 37-year-old man “well known to police” was arrested and has been charged with intent over the alleged assault with a “bladed knife”.

A spokesperson for NSW Police mentioned the person was going through a “substantial custodial sentence”.

His alleged sufferer was in a important situation when he was rushed to St Vincent’s Hospital.

He has since undergone surgical procedure and is with household within the intensive care unit in a secure situation.

Service NSW mentioned the Haymarket department will stay closed at present and tomorrow as workers work with NSW Police investigating the incident.

“The welfare of our staff is our highest priority,” a Department of Customer Service spokesperson mentioned .

“Every possible support will be made available for this staff member and his family.”

“All other staff at the centre are being offered counselling and support.”
