Eight flights on the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) have been affected early Sunday morning as airport personnel changed the faulty uninterruptible energy provide (UPS) that triggered a glitch final January 1.
Operations on the NAIA nonetheless have been again to regular at 6:20 a.m.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) stated a short lived shutdown of operations needed to be applied from 4:20 a.m. to five:23 a.m. on Sunday to offer approach to the upkeep exercise for the Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS-ATM) system.
“Ang problema nagkaroon ng parts replacement kaya kinakailangang i-shut down muna natin power dahil doon tumatakbo ‘yung kuryente papasok doon sa ATM [air traffic management] facilities,” CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio stated in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB.
(The downside was there was components substitute [activity] so we needed to shut down energy as that’s the place the electrical energy goes by for the ATM amenities.)
Apolonio stated the CAAP issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) advising them of the short-term disruption in operations.
“Well in-advise in advance kaya dapat nakapag-adjust na rin ‘yung mga concerned areas dahil na-issuehan na namin ng NOTAM,” he stated.
(Well we suggested them prematurely to offer involved areas room to regulate as a result of we already issued a NOTAM.)
