Forty-seven officers and personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) have been discovered to have prison and administrative legal responsibility in reference to the 990-kg shabu confiscated in Manila final 12 months.
This was in a memorandum signed by PNP Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM) director Police Major General Eliseo Cruz, in accordance with a report by Mark Makalalad on Super Radyo dzBB on Saturday.
Most of the officers and personnel have been from the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG), the memo confirmed.
The highest rating official cited by Cruz’s memo is former PDEG chief Police Brigadier General Narciso Domingo.
The Special Investigation Task Group 990 (SITG 990) ordered the 47 PNP officers and personnel to give up their firearms.
The SITG 990 will maintain a press convention on Monday to debate the findings from its investigation into the unlawful drug case of now-dismissed Police Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo Jr. involving 990 kilograms of confiscated shabu.
In October 2022, Mayo was arrested as authorities confiscated some 990 kilograms of suspected shabu with an estimated worth of over P6.7 billion following a sequence of anti-drug operations in Manila .
Mayo is an intelligence officer for the PDEG, based mostly on police data.
Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos on Monday requested two police generals and several other different law enforcement officials to go on depart throughout the week or face suspension after the investigation of the National Police Commission (Napolcom).
According to him, the investigation confirmed that “there is indeed a massive attempt to cover-up the arrest of Mayo.”
