An AFL fan has shared a hilarious late-night TV advert from 2006 promising “hot footy pics on mobile”, leaving web customers surprised at how instances have modified.
Posting on Reddit’s AFL discussion board, consumer “otherpeoplesknees” shared the video writing, “$4 per day subscription, that’s where they’d get ya! And only one pic per day, WTFFFFFF. Still, better value than Crazy Frog ringtones.”
The advert for the now-defunct web site “FootyBabes.com.au” featured a voiceover saying, “Footy babes on your mobile! For hot Aussie rules babes text AFL to 19 777 333. For rugby league text NRL to 19 777 333. Text now to 19 777 333.”
The positive print on-screen reads, “This is a subscription service. You must be 18 years or older to use this service. You will be charged a $0.50 joining fee plus $4 per day. One picture per day only.”
Many customers couldn’t imagine folks used to pay for photos of scorching babes.
“Pornhub truly changed the world. $4 a day, OMG,” one wrote.
Another joked, “Food $400. Data $100. Rent $800. Hot footy pics on mobile $122. Utility $300. Someone who is good at the economy please help me budget this. My family is dying.”
But others identified how costly most cell companies had been in these days.
“Mate you [used] to have to pay 55 cents to get a score update on a game in 2002. My dad wasn’t happy when there was a nailbiter of a game and I hit update 100 times,” one individual wrote.
Several famous that subscriptions had been coming again into trend.
“OnlyFans has brought it back around,” one wrote.
One consumer shared a narrative from once they labored in a Telstra name centre.
“I got a call from a mum one time, her 15-year-old had racked up about a grand’s worth of phone bill from one of these numbers,” they wrote.

“I’m a hoarder, I keep data dumps of all my old phones,” they wrote. “Knew I had them all on one of my old Nokias so it was a pretty quick search on my PC. Originally, can’t remember. Didn’t f**king pay for them, lol.”
