An aged girl was impaled by means of the neck after falling onto a device whereas gardening.
The girl, aged in her 80s, was gardening on Tuesday afternoon at her Fraser Coast dwelling when she fell onto the device, impaling her by means of the neck.
She was transported to hospital in an ambulance however docs had been unable to soundly take away the lengthy metallic bar protruding from her neck.
“The metal garden stake was about 150cm long and sticking out of her neck until the hospital medical team cut it back to about 15cm to make it easier to manage her treatment and transfer,” RACQ LifeFlight Aircrew Officer Scott Reeman stated.
The Sunshine Coast-based rescue helicopter crew then flown her to Royal Brisbane and Women’s hospital about 8pm.
She arrived in a secure situation for additional remedy.
