A person has died at a well-liked Tasmanian music pageant this weekend, authorities have confirmed.
In an announcement to NCA NewsWire, Tasmania Police stated the person, understood to be in his 40s, died all of a sudden on Saturday evening on the Panama music pageant, close to Launceston.
Police are usually not treating the loss of life of the person as suspicious.
According to stories by the ABC, the pageant organiser informed the group to not take any leisure medication in an announcement after the incident, which is known to have occurred at about 5:30pm.
“We don’t know whether drugs were involved but we want to put your safety first, so this announcement is just to say don’t take any recreational drugs,” Panama organiser Tim Carroll is claimed.
“It’s not safe to do so,” he stated.
“If you have any concerns, we’re available, we’re on radio, also at the first aid hut.”
Panama is a three-day pageant described by the occasion as a “celebration of music and community.”
It’s located within the Lone Star Valley within the north east of the state.
“Each March, 1500 patrons join us in the fields, to camp under the stars and witness some of the best acts you never knew you loved,” the pageant says on its web site.
The sold-out pageant returned in 2023 after lacking a number of years as a result of pandemic.
It was headlined by Zambian artist Sampa the Great.
Police stated a report could be ready for the Coroner.
“Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved one’s at this difficult time.”
