A dream honeymoon became a nightmare for one couple after a one-punch assault left a dad with extreme head trauma in hospital.

Andreas Lehr and his spouse Kanisha determined to journey to Perth after their wedding ceremony to rejoice their nuptials, leaving their two kids at house.

They went to see Luke Combs in live performance when Andreas was brutally attacked by a stranger because the couple left the RAC Arena in Perth.

“Everyone was sort of shoulder to shoulder. Andreas put his hand out to shake this fella’s hand and asked him if he was okay, and he’s turned around and king hit him and Andreas has fallen to the ground,” Kanisha instructed 9News.

Andreas is spending his seventh evening in Royal Perth Hospital with extreme head trauma and a bleed on the mind.

Strangers, together with an off obligation nurse rushed to Andreas’ support, which Kanisha says likely saved his life.

“We’re super grateful for those people that were around to help him when he needed it the most and obviously to all of the staff here that are doing their best – everyone who is helping us get home to our kids,” Kanisha stated.

“He’s not doing very well at the moment but each day is getting better.

“It’s the unknown that’s so scary, we don’t know how long it’s going to take.”

Andreas’ restoration may take months and Kanisha is determined to get house to Coffs Harbour to see her kids however a medically-assisted flight to NSW is predicted to price greater than $25,000.

“There’s a few sentences and words he can string together that actually make sense,” Kanisha stated.

“Getting home to my kids is top of the list [for Andreas], I hear it all the time.”

The household have arrange a GoFundMe web page to assist with Andreas’ medical bills.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with one rely of grievous bodily hurt.
