Outraged consumers have taken to social media to slam a Sydney grocery store after a buyer noticed a vile element on a Tim Tam packet.
In a submit on Reddit, a social media consumer shared a picture of a Tim Tam packet on the shelf at Coles in Burwood that appeared to have been eaten by rats or mice.
The Arnott’s packet had a big gap within the center, with chunk marks seen in at the very least three of the coconut-flavoured Tim Tams.
“Welcome to Burwood Coles local attraction,” a disgruntled buyer captioned the submit.
A commenter claimed it was not unusual to see pest-ravaged items within the grocery store.
“Yeh not the first time, I’ve shopped there and seen this many times,” they stated.
But a Coles spokesman stated thorough investigations have discovered no proof of pests inside the retailer or related distribution centres.
“Our NSW team has undertaken a thorough inspection of our local distribution centre and store and found no evidence of rodent activity particularly in respect of the product that we have been alerted to,” the spokesman stated.
“We are aware of no other incidents that have occurred with respect to these products. We continue to take food safety very seriously.”
Other commenters on the Reddit thread questioned the grocery store’s administration and product checks.
“Suspect this will sit on a shelf in Coles Burwood for a prolonged period before being noticed by management,” one commented.
While some commenters have been appalled to see the picture, others tried to make gentle of the submit.
“To be fair, those coconut Tim Tams are delicious,” one commenter wrote.
“Rats! I was up for some Coconut Creams,” one other stated.
Coles has been contacted for additional remark.
