The Block sisters and podcast stars Eliza and Liberty Paschke have made their stand-up comedy debut in a sell-out present at The Comics Lounge in May 2024.
In the latest problem for his or her podcast Try Before You Die, the women took to the stage with a comedy efficiency they rehearsed solely 9 instances, showing between well-known comedians like Arj Barker, Ben Lomas and Luke Kidgell.
Debriefing on the latest episode of their podcast, Eliza mentioned “The first thing that rattled us… was the set-list. So we looked at the set list as to where we were going to be in the line up, and what do you know… the act to follow was none other than Arj Barker.”
“The second thing we were told is the guy appearing just before us [Luke Kidgell] was the biggest ticket seller of comedy shows in Australia.”
“We were bringing down the standard but I truly do think we brought in the sales,” Eliza mentioned.

The Comics Lounge has performed host to the likes of Chris Rock, Chris Lilley and Hannah Gadsby, and it bought over 400 tickets to comedy followers who stuffed the Melbourne venue on the evening.
The Block sisters, in style fan-favourites who completed runners-up, felt “anxious” earlier than their first comedy gig. Liberty revealed that she solely acquired 5 hours of sleep the evening earlier than.
“I had crippling anxiety to the point where I had to turn my phone on ‘do not disturb’ because the more messages I got of good luck and I’m excited, etcetera, it would just send me into more of a spiral,” Liberty mentioned.

The set started with a spontaneous joke from Eliza, who considers herself the ‘funnier’ of the 2, and continued on into an amusing five-minute lengthy section about their involuntary singleness, their time with Scott Cam on The Block, and some jabs at infants being booted out of comedy exhibits.
“I actually thought we were… quite good,” the pair mirrored on their efficiency of their new episode.
“The difference between us and the other comedians, the other comedians have these really sort of long stories, and then ours were… just like little one liners” mentioned Eliza.
Eliza wasn’t delay by the expertise, leaving the door open to “get back out there”
“It’s given me a little hit, I might be forming an addiction. I reckon we could give it another crack,” she mentioned.

For Liberty, the one-off expertise was sufficient for her, saying: “I had laughs and it made me feel good, [but it] certainly didn’t outweigh the amount of anxiety in the days leading up.”
“I’m glad I did it in the sense that I’ve done it once and I proved that I could do it.” That’s sufficient for me.”
