Snow White star has fans worried: ‘Disney, WTF are you doing?’

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is getting a contemporary twist with the upcoming Rachel Zegler-led live-action remake — and followers of the unique Disney princess are divided over how they really feel about it.

And in the event you thought Snow White was going to be the love-obsessed damsel in misery she was within the authentic animated film, you may be disenchanted.

“It’s no longer 1937,” Zegler advised the outlet. “She’s not going to be saved by the prince and she’s not going to be dreaming about true love.”

She continued, “She’s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be and the leader that her late father told her that she could be if she was fearless, fair, brave and true. So, it’s just a really incredible story for young people everywhere to see themselves in.”

In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gadot added that, on this model, Snow White is “the proactive one” and the one who “sets the terms” — which is what makes her “so relevant to where we are today.”

However, those that had been as soon as wanting ahead to seeing the unique Disney princess come to life on the large display screen have hit again on the new tackle the traditional story.

“What is it with this women empowerment agenda that shamed a fictional character for being saved by the prince?” one wrote on X, previously referred to as Twitter. “Snow White was a classic tale about love that conquered evil nothing about that screams weak, this new live action is telling a completely different narrative.”

The identical consumer continued, “It shouldn’t be called live action at all. They should just create a different story with original characters, that shouldn’t be so hard. Also the ‘modern women having to choose between love and power’ is so outdated we don’t have to choose we can have it all.”

Another individual added, “I have no idea who tf Rachel Zegler is but now I don’t like her bc of the way she talks about Snow White lmfao. Also, Disney wtf are you doing? It’s a classic. Not every single movie today needs to be about women in power. We can have movies about princesses being saved by a prince.”

A 3rd individual chimed in, “Snow White is supposed to be naive to danger. It teaches kids not to trust strangers (or in this case, seemingly innocent old ladies) on a whim. Snow White grows as a person from this. That aside … the story is about finding true love.”

Still, not everybody was disenchanted by Zegler’s feedback. Fans of the actress stepped as much as slam the Snow White haters — with one calling the backlash to Zegler “genuinely some of the stupidest s**t I’ve seen on this app.” They continued, “She made one comment about how Snow White has ambitions of her own that has nothing to do with romance, and suddenly everyone decided that women being damsels in distress is [feminist], actually.”

Another fumed, “‘Disrespecting the original princess’ shut the f**k up dude you’re a grown ass adult still caring about a Disney princess.”

One consumer wrote, “Promise you I have never seen people caring about Snow White so much as I’m seeing now. Some of those people used to say they thought she was the most boring princess. Please go back to thinking that and leave my girl alone fr.”
