‘Profound loss’: Rock legend dead aged 81

David Crosby, founding member of the influential rock teams The Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, has died at age 81.

Crosby’s spouse of 36 years Jan Dance confirmed his passing in a press release, which she says adopted a protracted sickness.

“He was lovingly surrounded by his wife and soulmate Jan and son Django. Although he is no longer here with us, his humanity and kind soul will continue to guide and inspire us,” learn a press release from his household.

“His legacy will continue to live on through his legendary music. Peace, love, and harmony to all who knew David and those he touched. We will miss him dearly.”

In the mid-Nineteen Sixties, Crosby joined bandmates Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark, Chris Hillman, and Michael Clarke to kind the folk-rock band The Byrds.

His time with the group was rocky and he finally left in 1967 after forming an in depth bond with Stephen Stills and Graham Nash, creating Crosby, Stills & Nash (CS&N) in 1968.

The group launched their debut album to crucial acclaim, turning into a multi-platinum piece.

Stills’ colleague, Neil Young, would be part of the group a 12 months later in 1969, inflicting a conflict of egos among the many members.

Born in Los Angeles, California on August 14, 1941, Crosby was the son of Academy Award-winning cinematographer Floyd Crosby and Aliph Van Cortlandt Whitehead.

At a younger age, he was drawn to appearing and music whereas rising up in LA and Santa Barbara.

He dropped out of Santa Barbara City College to pursue a profession in music and have become concerned within the people music scene.
