Ne-Yo has outed himself as an ‘eshay’, sporting purple footwear to the Perth bar that famously banned them.
The Because of You hit-maker carried out at Bar1 in Hillary’s in Perth’s north on Thursday evening and was noticed backstage rocking a pair of purple footwear.
In images uploaded to Instagram by fan and Perth dancer Faith Ward, Ne-Yo may be seen sporting purple Pumas, and a purple cap in addition!
“@Neyo is the only person allowed to wear red shoes to @bar1nightclub,” Ward wrote within the caption.
It comes after the favored nightspot introduced it might implement a ban on purple sneakers from February — that means Ne-Yo is within the clear — to focus on a “certain style of person” attending its venue.
The nightclub revealed the transfer in a Facebook submit, confirming “yes, we are serious” within the caption.
The submit sparked a mix of shock and amusement.
“But what are the eshays going to wear now?” one Facebook consumer commented.
Bar1 Nightclub proprietor Malcolm Pages mentioned the brand new rule, which comes into impact on February 1, was not discriminatory and wouldn’t be a blanket ban on purple footwear.
“If you’re at a cocktail party or a 21st and you rock up as a well-dressed lady in red shoes you won’t be told to change your shoes,” he mentioned.
Mr Pages mentioned he thought the look had “gained momentum” in Perth and throughout the nation during the last 18 months.
“Unfortunately quite often when (patrons) are asked to leave, a large percentage of the time they have red shoes on,” he mentioned.
Licensed venues are allowed to set costume requirements which can be “suitable for their particular premises” below Western Australia’s liquor management act.
