Michael J. Fox has revealed how a Leonardo DiCaprio movie scene inadvertently gave him a “peaceful” nudge in direction of quitting appearing for good.
The 61-year-old Back To The Future actor – who was identified with Parkinson’s illness on the age of 29 – started a “second retirement” in 2020 after initially returning to work.
In a brand new interview with Empire, Fox opened up in regards to the shocking think about his resolution: DiCaprio’s function in Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 Once Upon A Time … In Hollywood.
He was filming The Good Fight on the time, and his illness had left him struggling to recollect his strains.
“I thought of Once Upon A Time … In Hollywood,” he stated.
“There’s a scene where Leonardo DiCaprio’s character can’t remember his lines any more. He goes back to his dressing room and he’s screaming at himself in the mirror. Just freaking insane. I had this moment where I was looking in the mirror and thought, ‘I cannot remember it any more. Well, let’s move on.’ It was peaceful.”
Fox’s newest revelation comes simply weeks after his heartbreaking interview with American present affairs program CBS Sunday Morning, by which he admitted his 30-year battle with Parkinson’s is “getting harder”.
“I’m not gonna be 80,” he stated throughout this system.
“I’m not gonna lie. It’s getting hard, it’s getting harder. It’s getting tougher. Every day it’s tougher.”
He added that the “big killer” of Parkinson’s illness is “falling” and may also be “aspirating food and getting pneumonia,” explaining it’s “all these subtle ways that gets you”.
“You don’t die from Parkinson’s. You die with Parkinson’s,” Fox stated. “So – so I’ve been – I’ve been thinking about the mortality of it.”
