Mel C has pulled out of performing in a New Year’s Eve live performance in Poland.
Her transfer seems to be linked to the anti-LGBTQ+ views prevalent within the nation, because the singer mentioned she was cancelling her half within the gig as she had been made conscious of “issues” that don’t “align” with teams she helps.
The 48-year-old Spice Girls singer mentioned on social media on Monday: “In light of some issues that have been brought to my attention, that do not align with the communities I support, I’m afraid I will no longer be able to perform in Poland as planned on New Year’s Eve.
“I hope to be back there very soon. Hope you’re all having a wonderful Christmas and best wishes for 2023.”
Mel — born Melanie Jayne Chisolm — final month mentioned she wouldn’t carry out in Qatar over its human rights file.
Fans congratulated her for her ideas following her publish on the Poland live performance.
Mel was final 12 months honoured with the Celebrity Ally award on the British LGBT Awards.
Poland has been discovered to have the worst protections for LGBTQ+ individuals within the European Union, in response to the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association.
Same-sex marriage will not be recognised within the primarily Catholic nation, whereas some areas of the nation have put in place largely symbolic, “same-sex free zones” — prompting ambassadors of greater than 50 nations to protest the transfer.
