Kevin Mitchell and Bob Evans unite for anthology concert

Everyone loves a very good discount and that’s precisely what audiences will get in two musicians for the value of 1 when Jebediah frontman Kevin Mitchell groups up together with his alter ego Bob Evans for nationwide anthology live performance tour, When Kev Met Bob.

The tour is ready to be a milestone second for Perth-raised, Melbourne-based Mitchell who has up till now saved his practically 30 years of alt-rock Jebediah discography separate from the extra acoustic and folksy six-album catalogue of Evans, the persona popping up on the Australian music scene within the late Nineties, occurring to debut album Suburban Kid in 2003.

Mitchell says the prospect is somewhat scary, having not executed a correct tour in years, performing solely sporadically since his final album Tomorrowland was launched throughout COVID lockdowns.

“This is a show I have always had in the back of my mind though,” Mitchell shares.

“I have always just kind of been sitting on it and waiting until it felt right to do so. For nearly 30 years, I have kept my solo music and my Jebediah music separate, and that has been a very deliberate decision that was also an important one to me.

“I think I have reached the point now however where that separation has done its job. So I suppose it feels a little freeing and exciting to step into a new phase now; The Kevin Evans years.”

When Kev Met Bob will blur these musical strains on a nine-date tour throughout Australia together with Perth’s Milk Bar in Inglewood on October 20.

“For me, personally, I think it will just be nice to finally present all this music I have written on one stage,” Mitchell says.

“There’s a lot there when you combine it all together, and it’s very much my adult life laid bare in song. The earliest songs I’ll be playing were written when I was 17, and the most recent are from my early 40s.”
