Ed-citement builds ahead of MONSTER concert

It would appear even WA Premier Mark McGowan is in love with the form of Ed Sheeran — because the UK pop celebrity quietly ready to interrupt the file for the State’s largest gig on Sunday.

With as many as 75,000 followers set to flock to look at the climax of the 32 year-old’s Australian tour, the ending touches have been being placed on the spectacular staging at Optus Stadium.

Those formalities meant a number of hundred extra tickets went on sale on Saturday, which have been snapped up inside hours.

And whereas Sheeran was protecting a low profile, Mr McGowan mentioned town couldn’t wait to welcome the singer again to the the stadium which he himself christened in 2018.

“Western Australia loves Ed Sheeran and the music superstar clearly loves WA,” Mr McGowan instructed The Sunday Times.

“As the first performer at Optus Stadium, Ed Sheeran holds a unique place in WA history — and it looks like history will be made again this weekend when more than 70,000 fans are expected to break the stadium’s attendance record.

“Those fans include many visitors from interstate and overseas, which will generate another significant boost to our economy.”
