Dire Straits guitarist Jack Sonni has died on the age of 68.
Known as “the other guitarist” throughout the iconic group’s Brothers in Arms period, his passing was introduced by the band on X.
They stated alongside a black and white image of the musician on stage: “#JackSonni (guitar emoji) Rest In Peace (praying hands emoji) #DireDStraits.”

Brothers in Arms was the fifth album launched by Dire Straits in 1985.
Jack had been working on the iconic New York City guitar store Rudy’s Music Stop within the Nineteen Seventies when he first met the band’s co-founders David and Mark Knopfler.
