Brooke Shields has opened up about her transient marriage to tennis famous person Andre Agassi, who she remembers was not supportive of her cameo on the hit sitcom, Friends.
In a brand new interview with The New Yorker, the 57-year-old actress claimed issues grew to become unstable between the pair when the pro-athlete smashed all his trophies after watching her on the present in 1996, on which she performed Joey Tribbiani’s (Matt LeBlanc) love curiosity, Erika.
In the scene that allegedly had Agassi fired up, Shields was seen on a date with Joey earlier than manically licking his finger at a restaurant and exposing herself as his stalker.
“In the scene, I’m supposed to lick Joey’s fingers, because they’re the hands of a genius, and I want to devour them, and I’m a nut,” Shields recalled.
“Andre was in the audience supporting me, and he stormed out. He said, ‘Everybody’s making fun of me. You made a fool of me by that behaviour.’ I’m, like, ‘It’s comedy! What is the matter with you?’”
It was later that evening Shields mentioned Agassi, now 52, broke all his trophies over the incident as a result of she mentioned he was humiliated. It wasn’t till years later that the Blue Lagoon alum learnt he was utilizing the drug crystal meth on the time.
“So that irrational behaviour I’m sure had something to do with that,” she mentioned.
In her 2014 memoir There Was a Little Girl, Shields recalled the second Agassi instructed her the extent of his drug use.
“He explained to me that for the first whole part of our relationship, he had been addicted to crystal meth,” she wrote. “I was the one who had supported him unconditionally when he told me that he was basically bald and had been wearing hairpieces most of his adult life. Why should this have been any different?”
The couple first met in 1993 after being launched at a tennis match, and in 1997 they went on to marry in a lovely coastal ceremony in Monterey, California. Sadly, two years after tying the knot, the couple known as it quits, however Shields knew very early on that they weren’t a match.
“It hit me all of a sudden – I knew I had made a mistake,” she wrote in her memoir. “For the next two years we saw very little of each other. I was working on my show, Suddenly Susan, and he was playing at various tournaments.
“He alienated me when he lost and was on to the next tournament after he won. We were drifting apart.”
Agassi went on to marry fellow tennis champion Steffi Graf in 2001, and so they now share two kids: son Jaden, 21, and daughter Jaz, 19.
That identical 12 months, Shields married director Chris Henchy, who’s the daddy of her daughters: Rowan, 19, and Grier, 16.
