“I mean, we shot in chronological order, so it got more and more f….. up as we went,” she says.

“(In one scene I was) dumped into the elevator of blood that obviously fills up, which really happens, and you’re like, ‘Would you actually float in the prosthetic blood?’

“And we spent five hours in it without going to the toilet, which was impressive.”

“Are you sure?” Sutherland queries, taking on as interviewer.

“No, I probably went to the toilet,” Sullivan admits.

As horrifying as that sounds, Sutherland’s expertise because the movie’s main Deadite required the actor to embody one thing actually terrifying.

“(I based the character on) someone who’s incredibly psychopathic, with supernatural abilities,” the Vikings star explains.

“So I kind of focused on, well, ‘What makes a psychopath? Where does that come from?’, and I just looked at it as tapping into rage.”

While Sullivan says she sees “every horror movie at the cinema”, Sutherland would a lot moderately be in a single.

“Being the monster in one is so different, as I’m not the one that has to be scared the whole time,” Sutherland says.

“But, watching them, I really struggle with it, because I’m the kind of person that any noise that I hear in the middle of the night is someone coming in to kill me.”

Evil Dead Rise is in cinemas on Thursday.
