Amazing Video Footage Shows Two Sumatran Tiger Cubs Being Born At Chester Zoo. Hidden cameras have captured a primary glimpse of two endangered Sumatran tiger cubs born at Chester Zoo on 7 January 2023. The tiny twins had been born to first-time dad and mom Kasarna and Dash – and the brand new household has since been bonding of their den with all of their lovable adolescence antics caught by the zoo’s CCTV cameras. Zookeepers say the brand new arrivals are but to be sexed and shall be named as soon as they begin to achieve in confidence and enterprise exterior, which specialists estimate shall be in early April. Just 350 Sumatran tigers are thought to stay within the wild – making them one of many world’s rarest tiger subspecies. They are listed as critically endangered by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) – essentially the most extreme conservation class and highest precedence. According to carnivore specialists, the beginning is a big step ahead for the conservation breeding programme working to avoid wasting the species from extinction. Dave Hall, Carnivore Team Manager at Chester Zoo, stated: “We’ve been closely monitoring Kasarna on our CCTV cameras as she gets to grips with motherhood and her first litter of cubs, it’s a real privilege and incredibly special to watch. She’s a great mum and is being very attentive to her new infants, keeping them snuggled up in the den and feeding them every few hours”. The enlargement of unsustainable palm oil and occasional plantations has seen greater than 90 per cent of the Sumatran tigers’ habitat worn out. The species can also be closely poached for its pores and skin, bones and canine tooth, that are bought illegally on the standard Asian medication markets. This makes Kasarna’s two cubs are completely essential to the survival of the species.
