Young mine worker dies on BHP site in horrific ‘collision’

A person has been killed in a office incident at a South Australian copper mine run by BHP.

South Australian police stated it occurred about 5.30am Tuesday at Olympic Dam in Roxby Downs, about 511km north of Adelaide.

Emergency companies have been referred to as to experiences somebody had been critically injured “in a collision … within the boundaries of the mines” in keeping with an SA Police assertion.

The 25-year-old Two Wells man died on the scene.

Major Crash officers attended and can help with the investigation.

SafeWork SA has additionally been notified, whereas police will put together a report for the coroner.

A BHP spokesperson stated the small print surrounding the incident stay unclear.

“We are deeply saddened to confirm that a member of our workforce died this morning at our Olympic Dam site,” stated the spokesperson.
