Hundreds of building employees have walked off the job after a person was left combating for his life following a fall from scaffolding whereas engaged on the landmark Cross River Rail mission.

The 54-year-old man was rushed to hospital after he fell as much as 12m from scaffolding on the Boggo Rd station building web site of the Cross River Rail mission in Brisbane about 1.15pm on Tuesday.

The man was standing on the platform along with his colleagues when he fell, leaving his workmates to look at on in horror.

“They’re all rallying together and trying to get through this.”

Workplace Health and Safety Queensland is investigating and the Boggo Road sight stays closed on Wednesday.
