Three passengers had been taken to hospital and 9 others assessed by paramedics after turbulence on board a flight from Honolulu to Sydney on Friday.
Almost 40 home flights had been cancelled by Saturday morning.
Air site visitors controller Airservices Australia advised the airport it was seemingly only one runway could be working later within the day as a consequence of robust winds.
