Treasury has referred the PwC tax scandal involving former companion Peter Collins to the Australian Federal Police for a felony investigation.
Treasury secretary Steven Kennedy confirmed the transfer in a press release issued by the division on Wednesday evening by which he stated Mr Collins had “improperly used confidential commonwealth information”
Mr Kennedy stated emails the Tax Practitioners Board tabled in parliament on May 2 highlighted the “significant extent of the unauthorised disclosure of this information as well as “the wide range” of PwC employees “who were directly and indirectly privy to the confidential information”.
“In light of these recent revelations and the seriousness of this misconduct, the Treasury has referred the matter to the AFP to consider commencement of a criminal investigation,” Mr Kennedy stated.
