The Northern Territory authorities needs to nearly double the worth of its agriculture and aquaculture industries to $2 billion by the top of the last decade.
The bold goal has been specified by the Territory’s agribusiness 2030 technique launched on Tuesday.
The plan is to develop the territory’s agriculture and aquaculture from $1.3b in 2021 to $2b by 2030.
The technique prioritises 4 key areas which incorporates adapting and innovating in addition to responding to biosecurity and local weather change threats.
Head of NT Farmers Paul Burke backed the plan.
“The agribusiness strategy will support industry to achieve $2 billion in farm gate output by 2030,” Mr Burke mentioned.
“Industry welcomes the development of this strategy and government’s commitment to the agricultural sector,” he mentioned.
Launching the technique, the territory’s minister for agribusiness and fisheries, Paul Kirby, mentioned agribusiness is value huge {dollars} to the NT.
“There is incredible potential for sustainable Agribusiness development in the Northern Territory and the launch of the Agribusiness 2030 Strategy will play an integral role in galvanising efforts to unlock that.”
The technique adopted a sequence of business boards and session throughout the Territory in 2021 and 2022.
