New SA trade office in US to grow defence opportunities

South Australia will open a commerce workplace in Washington to pursue alternatives flowing from the AUKUS submarine pact and different defence packages.

Funding for the workplace might be included in subsequent week’s state price range, taking the variety of SA commerce places of work within the United States to 4. Others already function in New York, San Francisco and Houston.

“As we build on South Australia’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and expand our skillsets to deliver on the AUKUS deal, it makes sense to expand our footprint in the US,” SA Trade Minister Nick Champion stated.

“Our connection with this important trade partner will continue to strengthen, and we want to ensure our state is at the fore when lucrative investment opportunities arise”

The US is South Australia’s second-largest export market and was value $1.58 billion within the 12 months to the top of March.

It can be the state’s single largest international investor.

The Washington workplace means higher proximity to the US defence division and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration as SA grows its superior manufacturing capabilities.

The announcement comes after final month’s resolution to determine a commerce workplace in Frankfurt, Germany becoming a member of these within the UK, China, India, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates.

Treasurer Stephen Mullighan stated having a presence in main economies around the globe would offer SA with vital funding alternatives.

“This latest expansion builds on the historic AUKUS agreement, putting South Australia front and centre for future investment and helping to create local jobs,” he stated.
