Thousands of Kia SUVs are being recalled over fears a fault within the automobile’s electrical oil pump may result in a severe street accident.
The pressing recall discover, issued by the federal Department of Transport on Wednesday, urges house owners of Kia MQ4 Sorentos to contact their sellers and schedule a crucial replace.
Due to variations within the product, a crack might develop within the automobile’s Printed Circuit Board (PCB) of the Transmission Electric Oil Pump (EOP), the recall states.
This fault might result in the EOP failing.
“If the EOP fails, hydraulic pressure will be lost and the vehicle may lose drive, thereby increasing the risk of an accident resulting in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users,” the recall states.
About 8572 vehicles are affected by the discover, which covers all Kia Sorento MQ4 fashions made between 2020-22.
“Owners should immediately contact their preferred Kia dealer to schedule an appointment, to have the transmission software updated,” the discover states.
