A household has made a fortunate escape as they woke to their south western Sydney dwelling collapsing on Good Friday.
Crews from Fire and Rescue NSW arrived on the Condell Park dwelling about 4.30am after experiences the main bedroom on the house’s first ground had caved in.
The room collapsed into the four-car storage beneath, destroying two automobiles, and damaging one other two, Nine News experiences.
Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Adam Dewberry stated the household inside had managed to flee with out damage, and crews established an exclusion zone round the home.
“Because of the amount of damage, there was nothing that we could really do,” Supt Dewberry stated.
NSW Better Regulation and Fair Trading Minister Anoulack Chanthivong stated the collapse was being investigated by first responders and the division.
“This is a shocking incident, we are grateful no one was seriously harmed and that the family have been able to find temporary accommodation,” Mr Chanthivong advised AAP.
“Authorities are investigating now so it’s too early to tell what has happened and I won’t preempt their findings.
“Once it is clear what has occurred to this household, I’ll work with the division and commissioner to make sure acceptable motion is taken.”
It was unlikely Fire and Rescue NSW crews would be able to stabilise the building, due to the extensive damage, Supt Dewberry said.
“There’s going to must be vital restoration and make protected work completed. The recommendation is for folks to remain out till it may be safely stabilised.”
