FEARS of Easter COVID rise subside but winter wave expected

The risk of an Easter COVID-19 wave in WA may have subsided after a dramatic rise in hospitalisations and infections slowed prior to now week.

New COVID circumstances rose six per cent to virtually 3500, and hospital admission for the virus jumped 10 per cent to 112.

It was a big lower from the earlier week when COVID-linked hospitalisations doubled and infections jumped sharply.

The slowing caseload, nevertheless, comes as wastewater surveillance indicated a big rise in COVID-19 throughout WA with huge underreporting of optimistic circumstances seemingly.

WA Health instructed The Sunday Times wastewater monitoring gave a “more stable estimate of COVID-19 in the community”.
