Dog survives AGES in Rio Tinto iron ore ‘dumper’

A Pilbara pup has been hailed as a miracle for rising unscathed after surviving for days inside an enormous chute into which 1000’s of tonnes of iron ore is tipped every day.

Karratha rescue pup Shanny had been lacking from her Dampier house for 4 days after operating away throughout a thunderstorm.

And proprietor Eloise Dortch had nearly given up hope of discovering her lacking mutt when she acquired news the canine was alive contained in the so-called “dumper” the place trains dump iron ore earlier than it’s loaded on to ships.

Rio Tinto port facility staff noticed Shanny perched on one of many sloping partitions of the dumper, clinging on along with her again legs hooked on bolt heads.

Travis Burrows, who’s in Rio Tinto’s emergency response crew, was shocked to obtain the decision.

“I was a bit taken aback,” he stated. “I never had a call like this one — this was the weirdest one I’ve had so far.”

Shanny managed to outlive within the dumper for not less than two days, by some means avoiding the greater than 100,000 tonnes of iron ore that was poured in throughout that point.

A ranger and the Rio Tinto crew had been in a position to loop a restraint round her neck and pull her out to security.
