Baby toy recalled over major hazard

A child toy bought over Etsy has been recalled, with the product security watchdog stating the rattle doesn’t meet security requirements and will pose a choking hazard.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), which handles product security recollects, has issued the discover over Yorie & Co wood child stick and cage rattles.

The stick model measures 13cm x 3cm, whereas the cage model — which is a wood ball enclosed in a cage of wood bars — measures 7cm x 7cm.

The ACCC stated the rattles “do not comply with size requirements of the mandatory safety standard for toys for children up to and including 36 months of age.”

“There is a risk of choking, suffocation, or death to young children if they continue to use these rattles.”

The rattles had been bought nationally on-line between November 12, 2021 and November 13, 2022.

“Consumers should destroy the product and contact Yorie & Co to arrange a full refund of the rattle,” stated the recall discover.
