The Australian founders of Culture Kings have seen their wealth nosedive following a serious share worth hit within the US-based firm that took the model world.
Simon and Tah-nee Beard — who began Culture Kings on the Gold Coast in 2008 and bought it to US firm Brands — have taken a inventory market beating with the share worth within the purchaser plummeting from a peak of $US14.76 ($22.09) to only US55¢.
The couple initially acquired $307 million money plus 23.3 million shares from Brands when it took over the corporate in 2021, with Culture Kings on the time producing virtually $200m in turnover and $20m in revenue, in accordance with news.com.au.
Brands’ latest share worth fall means the pair — who’re understood to have retained their full allocation of shares — have seen their wealth fall from $516m to only $19m.
In 2021, the Australian Financial Review reported their mixed wealth was $626m.
Culture Kings has garnered a cult-like following globally and is understood for promoting premium avenue put on.
It has flagship shops throughout Australia — together with Perth — together with New Zealand and the US.
Mr Beard in March introduced he and his spouse could be departing Culture Kings.
“As the founder it’s my baby, and Tah-nee has delivered the Las Vegas store and is beating expectations, but Tah-nee and I are entrepreneurial to our core and the public company or holding company role it’s not for me, not my best fit,” Mr Beard instructed The Australian.
“We have built a great team there and I believe they can go and run it, I am still on the board, and I’m there whenever I can help and guide it but for us we are entrepreneurs.”
