David Warner reckons Cameron Green has a brand new nickname – “Money Bags”.
Predictably, Green’s report IPL contract prompted a cruel response from his Australian Test teammate.
“I think he took an RDO today on our main session,” Warner deadpanned on Friday on the MCG forward of the Boxing Day Test.
But Warner stated there are severe implications for Green after he turned the most costly Australian participant within the historical past of the profitable Indian Premier League.
The 23-year-old allrounder was offered to the Mumbai Indians for a staggering $3.15 million, surpassing the determine payed by the Kolkata Knight Riders for Pat Cummins in 2020.
“There is going to be a lot of pressure, a lot of expectation,” Warner stated.
“That’s the nature of the beast when it comes to the IPL, when you see that kind of money thrown around.
Warner noted next year’s IPL will be played amid a busy Australian team schedule featuring the tough Indian Test tour, an away Ashes series and a World Cup.
“You’re going to have a very long time away from residence as a younger child” he stated.
“How he offers with that himself – he has nice assist, I’m positive, together with his administration and household.
“That’s going to be his biggest hurdle. It’s not about going out there and performing, he’ll do that, that’s inevitable.
“There’s lots of cricket to be performed – so good luck to all of us.”
Warner also said Green would one day have to choose between the three forms of the game, just as English captain Ben Stokes has given up one-dayers.
“He’s going to have an enormous determination on his arms in a few years’ time together with his physique,” Warner stated.
