Carlton has been dealt a blow on the eve of Christmas with younger gun Sam Walsh present process surgical procedure which can rule him out of at the least the primary month of the 2023 season.
The Blues confirmed on Friday morning that Walsh, 22, underwent surgical procedure to have a micro-discectomy process in his again on Thursday evening.
The surgical procedure concerned the removing of a bulging disc portion to alleviate strain on a nerve, which can see Walsh dominated out for the beginning of the 2023 season.
Carlton opted for the surgical procedure after months of labor with specialists. Surgery was deemed the very best plan of action to make sure Walsh made a full restoration.

“Due to the long-term nature of this rehabilitation, it isn’t possible to confirm a set date for his return right now. Once the opening month of the season has been completed though, we expect to be able to provide more clarity on his expected return to play.”
Carlton will open the 2023 season in opposition to Richmond on March 16 then play reigning premiers Geelong in Round 2.
