Andre Coley has been appointed interim head coach of the West Indies males’s staff for his or her upcoming tour of southern Africa.
He replaces former mentor Phil Simmons, who introduced his departure after the staff’s early elimination on the Twenty20 World Cup and stepped down following the latest two-Test collection towards Australia.
Coley will oversee the 2 Tests in Zimbabwe beginning on January 28, in addition to the multi-format tour of South Africa the next month, Cricket West Indies introduced on Wednesday.
“To be asked to oversee the West Indies team on the upcoming tours of Zimbabwe and South Africa is a special honour,” the Jamaican stated in an announcement.
“West Indies cricket holds a special place in my heart.”
The South Africa tour consists of two Tests, three one-day internationals and three Twenty20s.
“The upcoming assignment will be challenging as we will come up against two teams in their home conditions,” Coley stated.
“We will need to ensure that our planning and preparation are appropriate, and demonstrate consistency in the execution of these plans, to give ourselves the best opportunity to achieve positive results.”
