Former Fitzroy captain and Adelaide Crows recruiting grasp Matt Rendell has died, following a coronary heart assault on Sunday.

The 164-game Fitzroy ruck was strolling his canine when he suffered a cardiac arrest and he died in hospital on Wednesday.

A press release launched by Rendell’s spouse Leonie, confirmed the recruiter, participant, commentator and coach had handed away, aged 64.

“Matthew passed away this afternoon, after suffering a cardiac arrest Sunday morning. He did not regain consciousness,” the assertion learn.

“We greatly appreciate the efforts of the first responders and the staff at the Victorian Heart Hospital.

“The Rendell family would like to express gratitude towards everyone who has been supportive at this time.”

Rendell performed for the Lions – the place he received two best-and-fairest awards – from 1981 to 1991, earlier than a 13-game stint with the Brisbane Bears in 1992.

The ruckman performed 79 SANFL video games with West Torrens earlier than making the transfer to Fitzroy.
