Crows players deflated by Doedee’s knee injury: Nicks

Adelaide’s gamers are deflated by the intense knee harm to defender Tom Doedee, who falls off-contract on the finish of the AFL season, coach Matthew Nicks says.

Doedee will quickly have his proper knee reconstructed and miss the following 12 months of soccer.

The 26-year-old is a restricted free agent on the finish of this season and has but to decide to a contemporary contract with the Crows.

“That’s something that is ongoing, we will continue to work through that with Tom and his management,” Nicks advised reporters on Friday.

Nicks had little question the Victorian-born defender, who had his left knee reconstructed in 2019, would bounce again.

“It’s a challenging one because Tom’s such a liked player in our group, he’s a leader of our group,” Nicks stated.

“It’s not the first time it’s happened with Tommy and so I think initially, everyone, it flattens the group.”

Doedee has already put his harm in context through his older brother Harley, whose decrease legs had been amputated after a automotive accident 15 years in the past.

“He has an amazing perspective on life, Tom, and he’s been through a lot in life,” Nicks stated.

“That came out this week – it was all about the team … he’s constantly talking about that.

“But he’ll go in and get some work carried out on that (knee) after which we’ll look from there the place we go ahead.

“But a really important person around our footy club and we’ll continue to support him.”
