Century for King as West Indies beat UAE in first ODI

West Indies had 88 balls to spare as they gained their one-day worldwide opener towards the United Arab Emirates by seven wickets of their first bilateral collection.

Windies opener Brandon King obtained his first ODI century with a run-a-ball 112 – together with 12 fours and 4 sixes – and Shamarh Brooks scored 44.

New captain Shai Hope (13 not out) hit the successful runs with a six as West Indies reached 3-206 in 35.2 overs.

Choosing to bat first, UAE scored 202 all out in 47.1 overs with quick bowler Keemo Paul taking 3-34 for West Indies.

Ali Naseer top-scored for the hosts with 58 off 52 balls, whereas Vriitya Aravind registered a slower-placed 40 off 77.

The three one-day internationals will even put together the groups for Cricket World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe later this month.
