Winners of Milky Way Photographer of the Year crowned for 2023

This awe-inspiring photograph was taken within the Gross Spitzkoppe Nature Reserve in Namibia, Africa, which made for an “extraordinary adventure”.

As I explored the encircling savannah, removed from my tent and trusty 4×4 that served as my residence throughout this journey, I stumbled upon this spectacular rock formation,” photographer Lorenzo Ranieri Tenti explained.

“Instantly, a composition shaped in my thoughts, as I knew that the Milky Way would cross this panorama that night time.

“Excitement consumed me as I prepared for the shot, eagerly awaiting the moon’s descent.

“In the midst of emotion and adrenaline, typical of such starry nights, I started capturing the scene. As the lengthy night time drew to a detailed, I deeply appreciated the dear present bestowed upon me by the African night time, a world away from my residence.”
