Senate to approve Maharlika Fund, other key bills before June 2 adjournment –Zubiri

Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri on Saturday mentioned the higher chamber was anticipated to approve key precedence measures of the Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) every week earlier than the nineteenth Congress would sine die adjourn.

Zubiri mentioned that if 4 of the precedence payments had been signed into regulation, the First Regular Session would have produced seven precedence measures of the administration, together with the SIM Registration, the Act Postponing the Barangay Elections, and the AFP Fixed Term Law, which had already been handed into regulation.

“I am proud to say that the Senate has performed very well for the First Regular Session, which typically tends to have a slow start in any Congress, because we are essentially starting from scratch and studying all of the bills anew,” the Senate President mentioned.

The Senate, beneath Zubiri’s management, handed six payments into regulation, 4 of that are of nationwide software.

“The Senate will continue to prioritize the quality of our measures over the speed of our performance or the quantity of our output, but we do expect to be able to devote more time to our plenary duties, now that most of our major Commission on Appointments (CA) work has already been dealt with,” he mentioned.

The Senate President mentioned the CA duties of the 13 senators, which consumed a lot of their morning schedules, made it a problem for them to work out the schedules of the Senate.
