Judge to deliver verdict in Ben Roberts-Smith defamation case next week

Almost 11 months after his prolonged trial, Victoria Cross recipient Ben Roberts-Smith will quickly study whether or not his defamation case over struggle crimes reviews has been profitable.

The former SAS corporal sued The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Canberra Times in a Federal Court trial over 2018 reviews claiming he dedicated struggle crimes in Afghanistan together with homicide, and acts of bullying and home violence.

The 43-year-old has denied all claims of wrongdoing, whereas the newspapers defended them as true.

The trial spanned over a yr and wrapped up after eight days of closing addresses on July 27, 2022.

Justice Anthony Besanko will hand down his judgment on June 1.
