New Disney film’s bizarre swipe at Kate Middleton

The newest remake of The Little Mermaid consists of what seems to be a dig on the Princess of Wales, based on a reviewer.

After seeing an early screening of the Disney movie, the reviewer instructed Page Six that it appears to dip a toe (or a fin?) into the Sussex drama with what seems to be a dig at Kate Middleton.

The critic revealed that the movie appears to attract plenty of delicate but believable comparisons between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry and the 2 lead characters, Ariel (who’s black within the new film) and Prince Eric (who’s white).

But one scene, specifically, appears to get fairly literal.

“Ariel has sacrificed her voice in order to get to the surface and [meet] Prince Eric. She can’t speak so he tries to guess her name,” the reviewer stated. “His first guess is Diana. His second guess is Catherine, but after [Ariel gives a disgusted] reaction, he [concludes] ‘OK, definitely not Catherine.’”

The cinematic spy says there’s nothing within the film’s inner logic to in any other case clarify the mermaid’s excessive response, and, they add, “Disney would be disingenuous to imply those name choices were coincidental.”

(Needless to say, Diana is the title of Prince Harry’s late mom and Catherine is the complete title of his sister-in-law, the Princess of Wales, aka, Kate Middleton, who’s extensively seen as Meghan’s real-life nemesis within the ongoing saga of her exit from royal duties.

Meanwhile, in her infamous 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan herself stated she recognized with the mermaid.

During the bombshell tell-all, she recalled watching the basic 1989 animation throughout her troubled time within the UK after her 2018 marriage ceremony to Harry.

“I went, ‘Oh my God, she falls in love with the prince and because of that she loses her voice,’” Meghan stated.

In the brand new fishy flick, Ariel is performed by Halle Bailey and Jonah Hauer-King performs Prince Eric. Melissa McCarthy performs villain Ursula.

The Little Mermaid can be launched in Australian theatres on May 25.
