President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. has appointed 5 new ambassadors, the Palace introduced Monday.
In a press release, the Presidential Communications Office mentioned the next envoys had been appointed to the next posts on May 11:
- Carlos Sorreta, Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland
- Jose Ignacio, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of India, with concurrent jurisdiction over the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal
- Maria Angela Ponce, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Malaysia
- Renato Pedro Villa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with concurrent jurisdiction over the Republic of Yemen and
- Paul Raymund Cortes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Portuguese Republic, with concurrent jurisdiction over the Republic of Cabo Verde, the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, and the Republic of Angola.
The 5 envoys’ appointments, nevertheless, would nonetheless must be confirmed by the Commission on Appointments (CA).
