Australian brewers are calling for a pause on beer taxes, saying the inflation-linked will increase are pushing smaller companies to the brink.
Sam Fischer, Chief Executive of Lion, one of many largest brewers within the nation, stated the associated fee is especially impacting regional and rural pubs and golf equipment.
However, Treasurer Jim Chalmers all however dominated out any reduction within the upcoming funds when he was requested about studies that the federal taxes at present equate to round $20 per slab.
“We can’t afford to do all of the things that are proposed to us in a budget, not just that idea but other ideas are put to us pretty regularly, multiple times a day and we don’t want to give people false hope about the things that we can’t afford to do,” he stated.
“We can’t afford every idea, we can’t even afford all of the good ideas.
“I feel we’re up-front about that. Sometimes to our personal detriment however our priorities lay elsewhere on this funds.”
The latest tax increase on beer was a 3.7 per cent hike in February.
